What is 3M Paint Protection Film:

A durable, high-grade, colorless urethane film applied to high-impact areas of your vehicle that take the brunt of damaging road debris and protects paint from nicks, scrapes & minor bump related paint rub offs.

It is sold under the brand name Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film SGH6 Or simply “Scotch PPF”

•3M invented Paint Protection Films in the Year 1960

•The film was invented for protecting the edges of airplane’s wings, helicopter’s rotor blades from damages in the desert

•Paint Protection Film has 3 Layers which includes

1.The top clear coat

2.The middle thermoplastic urethane (150 micron or 0.15 mm thick)

3.The bottom clear acrylic adhesive films

•The first two layers help in protecting the paint from nicks, scrapes & minor bump rub offs while the adhesive layer helps the film to adhere to paint substrate strongly.
